gappt: The thinking behind the service

Hello again and welcome to the second of installment ‘fill the gappt’ – our new blog.

For those of you who haven’t seen the first blog, this is a place where you can get to know us a little better and where we’ll be sharing everything happening with gappt.

To start that ball rolling, we want to give you a short insight into how the idea for the service came about. Well, it all started when we discovered a problem that many appointment-based businesses face: holes in their appointment books. An hour here and there doesn’t seem like much, but when added up can amount to a significant loss of time. A single one-hour gap in your appointment book every day quickly adds up to nearly a full day’s worth of gaps in just over a week. (Filling even just one appointment gap per month through your gappt-powered app can usually pay back the monthly subscription cost.)

Filling gaps in your appointment book is a big part of what we’re about, but it’s most certainly not the only part. The bigger picture for your business is a brand presence on mobile platforms. The mass popularity of smartphones and mobile devices can’t be denied and we want to help you make the most from that market. Here are just a few selected facts that give you an idea of the mobile landscape in the UK:

  • There are more mobile phones in the UK than people
  • Smartphone sales overtook PC sales last year (two years earlier than expected)
  • 52 per cent of UK mobile phone users have a smartphone.

This means that a presence on mobile devices has gone past being just desirable – it’s crucial. We at gappt want to help you make sure you have a simple and affordable way to make the most of that presence.

Another part of the thinking behind gappt is about enhancing relationships with existing customers. We’ve found there are two main reasons for this: existing customers are more likely to give you business, and really are your best allies and advocates in attracting new ones.

You may find it interesting that this year’s Neilsen report found that 92 per cent of global consumers say they trust recommendations from friends and family over advertising. gappt-powered apps are fully connected to the social web, which makes it easy for existing customers to share your news.

Overall, you could say gappt kills several birds with one stone.

We hope this has given you a little more insight into the thinking behind gappt, and hopefully you’ve got to know us a little better.

Until next time
